In this most curious and costly case, Taylor Swift took Denver DJ David “Jackson” Mueller to court over him groping her bare ass under her skirt whilst a photo was being taken in a meet and greet at the Pepsi Center in 2013. As of today, the case has now been officially solved in court. The jury ruled that Mueller did indeed grab Taylor’s bare ass, as the photo shows quite clearly, but without a reverse angle to the pic, this was still up for debate, though his hand was clearly placed on her bottom.
On Monday, the jury sided with Taylor Swift, as tears came down her mother’s face after the win, then hugging her mother and her attorney. After the victory, which saw her earn the symbolic one dollar fee in damages from David Mueller, Taylor released a statement that she would donate to “multiple organizations that help sexual assault victims defend themselves”.
Andrea Swift, Taylor’s mother, was also not found guilty on tortious interference. So in a sense, it was a double victory for the Swift family.
Taylor Swift made a symbolic stand not only for her, but for women across the whole world, with this court case that clearly reiterates and rightly so, that groping women in any way is totally wrong. If only some Muslim migrants in Europe got that memo too, that’d be just great.
The 27-year-old singer made a statement obtained through the PEOPLE publication, “‘I want to thank Judge William J. Martinez and the jury for their careful consideration, my attorneys Doug Baldridge, Danielle Foley, Jay Schaudies and Katie Wright for fighting for me and anyone who feels silenced by a sexual assault, and especially anyone who offered their support throughout this four-year ordeal and two-year long trial process”.
Clearly, this was always going to be a case built up on principle for Taylor Swift, who never backed down, or ever thought about backing down, after she felt violated by David Mueller’s groping hand.
Swift added, “I acknowledge the privilege that I benefit from in life, in society and in my ability to shoulder the enormous cost of defending myself in a trial like this. My hope is to help those whose voices should also be heard. Therefore, I will be making donations in the near future to multiple organizations that help sexual assault victims defend themselves.”
Meanwhile, Mueller didn’t even look at his attorney once the ruling was made. As a result of his actions in 2013, he lost his job, and for that he tried to counter-sue the Swift’s. However, Taylor, who is a talented and righteous artist, wanted to make her point and all she asked for was a symbolic $1 payment from him, which in effect goes someway for him to admit his groping behaviour.
Taylor’s attorney, Doug Baldridge said, “Taylor Swift has no desire to bankrupt this man. A single dollar on the counter-claim is of immeasurable value. It says no means no and for every one women to determine was it to be tolerated with her body.”
During the court proceedings, Mueller’s attorney stated, “Taylor Swift is still in the middle of the picture frame. If she tried to get away she would be off to left side of the picture, off center.”
Later adding, “‘Look at her face, is that the face of someone who just had her butt grabbed? Is that the face of someone who is upset?”
It’s pretty clear to say that Taylor didn’t “Shake It Off” and that she expressed “Bad Blood” to the trailing right hand of David “Jackson” Mueller. In order to make her point, she won in court and, being the ever so noble woman that she is, didn’t demand any high price in damages. So all in all, Mr. Mueller should consider himself lucky here.
He has however been exposed and stringently pursued for his unkind act, and this story will no doubt follow him around for many years to come. Let’s just say that you shouldn’t grope ANY women at all, and especially not Taylor Swift for that matter.
Perhaps Taylor Swift could use her high profile to address the numerous Islamic rape gangs, muslim sex rings and the numerous other groping’s that are going on in Europe and around the world at the hands of unassimilated Muslim migrants and Islamist’s onto women? Something like this would be very well received by those that are suffering from such crimes, and who better than Taylor Swift to stand up and fight against it? Just a thought…
We’re very much on team Taylor Swift here at Brainstain, and not for Katy Perry. Social justice warrior Hillary Clinton supporting singers are just not our bag. Besides, Taylor Swift is a much more incredibly talented original artist, overall.
Brainstain, over and out!
