From Executive Producer Ridley Scott and Director Denis Villeneueve comes the film Blade Runner 2049, out on October 6th, 2017 and we have unearthed the official trailer right here and it looks EPIC! Let’s have a look, shall we?
How about that for a “bad*ss” looking sequel to the cult classic Sci-Fi film ‘Blade Runner‘ from 1982, this time starring Harrison Ford once again, and Ryan Gosling who plays ‘Officer K’ an LAPD blade runner who finds out about a “secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.”
The film also stars Robin Wright and Jared Leto, as you can see in the full trailer, more than thirty years after the original, the lighting and visual aesthetics do the original film all the justice it needs.
Ridley Scott who also came up with the concept of the new film, he told the Guardian, “Alcon Entertainment were about to buy the title and they said to me, ‘Look, we’re about to pay God knows how many millions – do you think there’s a sequel here?’ And I said, ‘Absolutely.’ They said, ‘What is it?’ And I said, “I’ll tell you when you pay me”.
Ridley Scott who has been busy making ‘Alien Covenant’ passed the reins of direction to Denis Villeneueve who said earlier this year, “The first movie was a film noir, quite intense with melancholia and an existential crisis, so we are not far away from the thematic’s of the first movie, I will say. It’s the same genre, the same atmosphere.”
And, as for Harrison Ford who returns in this sequel, playing the same character ‘Rick Decard’, who said this during a Facebook Q&A, “The character is woven into the story in a way that intrigued me. There’s a very strong emotional context and the relationship between the character, Deckard, to the other characters I found fascinating. I think it’s interesting to develop a character after a period of time.”
So, after over 30 years, Harrison Ford comes back, while Ryan Gosling takes the lead in the ‘Blade Runner 2049’ film, which is set to become a worthy sequel to the cult classic and let’s just say that we are very impressed by the trailer. We will definitely be watching this one, come October 6th, 2017.
Brainstain, over and out!
